Minnesota IT'S NEVER TO EARLY -- ANNOUNCING 2006 AGM -- JULY 13 - 16 Mark your calendar now and plan to attend our 2006 AGM Thurs-Sun, July 13-16. AGM will coincide with the MN Scottish Country Fair & Games (15th/Saturday -- www.mnscottishfair.org). Fair features the fun and games and pipe band competitions we expect and love, drawing up to 25,000 in recent years. Host Hotel Official CSSA AGM hotel will be the Marriott located by the Mall of America and Minneapolis-St Paul airport. We're holding a block of rooms and also plan to have a private CSSA hospitality suite. With 10-room minimum, we've secured a special 3-night (13th, 14th, 15th) dbl-occupancy group rate of only $94 per night (so it's important that everyone lodge together at the official AGM hotel). The MOA north entrances are a short stroll from the hotel, making it easy to enjoy the many attractions, which include Camp Snoopy, America's largest indoor amusement park, the Dinosaur Walk ("world's largest collection of prehistoric animals"), wide array of nightclubs/eateries, 14-screen AMC theater complex, one of the nation's largest Lego exhibits, and, of course, visitors can "shop 'til they drop". The hotel provides a free shuttle service every half-hour directly to the MOA, and also every half-hour to the nearby airport, conveniently situated just across I-494 freeway. Either at the MOA or at the MSP airport, visitors can board the Metro Transit Authority "Hiawatha Line", a frequent commuter light-rail train service linking the Airport and Mall to Downtown Minneapolis (and points between). Known as the "Mini Apple", Minneapolis offers countless dining, entertainment and cultural attractions for every taste and budget. Among the best known are the Walker Art Museum, Guthrie Theater, and Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Every summer the acclaimed Minnesota Orchestra offers an outstanding weekend concert series ('06 summer schedule "TBA" April or May). Minneapolis is also home to the nationally known "Triple Espresso" comedy troupe. For baseball fans, the Minnesota Twins will play Cleveland on both Friday and Saturday nights (14th & 15th) at the Metrodome stadium, Downtown Minneapolis, where fans enjoy air-conditioned comfort. Also "almost on the doorstep" of our hotel are two more notable attractions: Fort Snelling; and the spectacular MN Valley National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. Though light-rail train service isn't available to Downtown St Paul, it's just a short drive or cab ride away; and there's city bus service from MOA ,too. St Paul offers many entertainment and cultural attractions, including the St Paul Cathedral with interior patterned on St Peter's-Vatican, the MN History Center, and the Science Museum of MN. St Paul is also home to the famous Fitzgerald Theatre ("Prairie Home Companion" and many other Public Radio live performances, summer '06 schedule "TBA"). With your participation, the 2006 CSSA AGM should be an enjoyable and memorable weekend. Come and share in a good time with fellow CSSA members, and experience "Minnesota Nice", too. For more info, contact Stuart Hoarn, Regional High Commissioner, Region VI, (952) 470-2550, or via email, bhoarn@cbburnet.com. . More information will be posted as soon as it is known. |
